About Pathways Community Church
We are a group of friends from various backgrounds and experiences who are uniting together to create this new faith and service community within the larger community of Vancouver. We are committed to do our part to serve and bless Vancouver.
Many of us have had pretty extensive involvement in working with people in various ways. For some of us, that has been primarily in a church environment. Others of us are from the education field, social service field or health care. Together we have led teams serving people of all ages, incomes and ethnicity. And of course, some of ‘us’ are just plain kids still learning to ride bikes!
Our Pastor Tom Taylor
Pastor Tom Taylor is married to Lucy and they have lived primarily in the Metro area. Most of their family live around here. Their children and children’s spouses and grandchildren currently number 14 in total, so they understand family life very well!
Tom has been on the Pastoral Team of two large local churches, City Bible and New Beginnings Christian Center, for a total of 25 years. He has had a lot of interesting leadership roles. He was the Director of a temporary housing ministry and has ran after school and summer youth programs. He’s created mentoring programs and been primary instructor of several college classes. He has enjoyed business success and overseen construction projects, from an 84 lot subdivision to a 60,000 square foot building. He smuggled Bibles into China when it was still a closed society, has slept on floors in Thai villages, and taught in a Brazilian synagogue. His Major was in Theology and he loves to share fresh insights from the Bible. Pastor Tom Taylor also loves Starbucks and whole wheat crackers.
Steve and Sheli Livengood have been married for over ten years and have four kids. They do children’s ministry around the clock! Steve has a degree in Pastoral Missions and Christian Education with over 13 years of children’s ministry under his belt. Sheli also has a degree in Pastoral Ministries and has worked with Steve in Children’s ministry the past 11 years. They have a passion for making the Bible come to life for kids of all ages and showing them how the Bible applies to their lives today.
In the past Steve has served as a Children’s Pastor, Assistant Children’s Pastor, Youth Leader, Drama Director, Softball Assistant (for his girls teams!) and done many outreaches both in the US and Mexico. Sheli also has served as Assistant Pastor, Worship Leader, Women’s Ministry Leader, Children’s Pastors (with Steve!) and is currently serving as a Booster at her kids school. (Go Gause Mustangs!)
Steve and Sheli’s favorite pastime is going on a family adventure with their four kids! Their latest was going to one of the Portland Beaver’s last games. Steve and Sheli also enjoy date nights at Who Song and Larry’s! A must with four kids.
