Passover/Easter Service Project
We are sending our first child on to High School! In Kenya that means paying for her to go to a High School where she will room and board 5 days a week. This sets her up for success, including attending a quality college if she chooses.
The cost of the school for one year s $1,600. Our goal is to raise this by the end of the month. A special offering will be taken on Easter. You may give online by using the Pay Pal button on the ‘Giving’ page.
About our children’s home in Kenya, Africa:
In 2007 a team from the NW traveled to Africa to establish a home for children abandoned or abused by their parents. Working in partnership with a stable local church pastored by Fred and Lydia Kilonzo, the home has become a refuge for 14 children, with capacity for 4 more as funding allows.
Watotu Wetu is registered as an official non-government organization in Kenya and works with the government in placing the children into the home. Most of the children come from the 2nd largest slum in the world, Kibera, Kenya. They have gone from abuse and abandonment to warm beds, 2 loving house mothers, a caring church community and attend quality schools. In fact, our children are in the top 10% of their classes academically! Only God knows what doors of opportunity are ahead of them. We accept children with HIV, which is a great need.

Community Service
We asked you to join us in helping to establish this ministry to the people, for the people, by the people. There were two major outreaches that we have been involved in. One was a food and clothing drive and the other was a Health Fair at Harney Elementary.
Feed Vancouver.org
a food and clothing drive
We joined with FISH food and clothing bank for a City wide food drive. We are call it FEED VANCOUVER.

FISH currently provides emergency food and clothing to
approximately 4,500 individuals each month. This includes
approximately 40% children and 10% seniors. For More info

Pathways Health Fair
We hosted the Pathways Health Fair September 11th, the National Day of Service. This was held at Harney Elementary, the school where we hold our Sunday Church Services. The health fair was especially for the families of children who go to Harney elementary, though all were welcome. 70% of these families were at or below the poverty line. These services were free.
- Teeth cleaning.
- Health screening, such as diabetes, blood pressure, scoliosis, etc.
- Clothing bazaar.
- Rides, games and general fun activities such as face painting, balloon animals and so on.
- Haircuts and other services.
In December Pathways:
- Gave 5 families in the neighborhood food bags with enough in them for a few to several meals.
- Collected $384 (half of Christmas offering) to feed our orphan children in our African Children’s Home & Thailand orphans.
- Distributed 15 Christmas stockings to a family shelter.
- Partnered with Harney Elementary to:
- 1. Clothe 8 children from 3 families (some from head to toe) and give them a Christmas gift besides.
- 2. Gave these 3 families each a $325 in gift cards to WalMart.
- 3. Took 20 large bags of clothes to F.I.S.H. food bank. 8 of these were from Pathways and 12 from Harney’s lost and found.
PLUS since our launch in September we have:
- Given a total of $3,000 to missions and/or children’s homes in Africa, Mexico, Guatemala, Israel and Thailand.
- Put on a Health Fair with 40 oral surgeries, 16 mammograms, dental exams, diabetes checks and many other services for free.
- Held our Harvest Fun Fair.
- Held the neighborhood Holiday Fun Movie Night.
AND many people have connected or reconnected with God!
This was all a great example of Pathways members taking their ministries seriously and having what I call ‘a spirit of excellence’. When we combine the abilities God has given us with a heart to love and serve, and diligently perform our ministry, this is what we can expect as an outcome! Thank you to all who served in various ways. You have set a great example.
I am very proud of you.
Together, we are making a difference!
